Serbian Novak Djokovic, the world’s top-ranked male tennis player, has been voted Europe’s best athlete in a traditional poll of news agencies organised by the Polish news agency PAP.

After 2011 and 2015, Djokovic won the recognition for the third time in his career, with reputed news agencies such as AFP, TASS, ANP, APA, ATA, Anadolu and others taking part in the 61st poll.

As in the past, Serbia was represented by the national news agency TANJUG.

Djokovic won 145 points – 13 more than second-placed Croatian footballer Luka Modric, with the F1 world champion, Briton Lewis Hamilton, in third with 114 points.
