It’s been revealed that Lionel Messi’s contract renewal with Barcelona will see him earning an incredible 100 million euros per year.
Messi salary has almost with the signing of the new deal with the Catalan club, which will last until 2021.
As revealed by Football Leaks’ documents, collected by the French portal Media part, Barcelona will pay more than 400m euros for Messi’s next four seasons at the Camp Nou.
The 30-year-old footballer pockets about 50m net, more than double the amount of what Cristiano Ronaldo makes.
Football Leaks also exposed Neymar’s net amount which is approximately 37m euros.
Messi will earn a fixed 71m euros gross of which 15 percent comes from image rights, and a loyalty bonus of 70m if he does not leave Barcelona before the end of his contract.
In total, he will, in fact, exceed 100m per year. (71×4 = 284 + 63.5 + 70 = 417.5 million)
There are also some added variables that can increase the Argentinian’s annual salary.
If he plays 60 percent of the games, he’ll pocket a further 1.9m euros gross, and if Barcelona win the Champions League, a cool 12 will make its way into his bank account.
Although this super contract has left the player satisfied, it seriously compromises the club’s salary limit.
