John Cena makes his return to a WWE ring at Battleground this weekend but fans will be hoping for an encounter as good as his battle against Kevin Owens in 2015.
We’ve captured the best of that epic match in the video above that will remind you of what both competitors are capable of when allowed to let a rivalry simmer.
It was the ‘rubber match’ after Owens beat Cena in his first match on the main roster at Elimination Chamber before Cena got his revenge a month later at Money in the Bank.
The finale had it all, with both men displaying spells of impressive domination and, conversely, determination to fight back when hope looked lost.
Cena won the match and the overall battle but arguably it was Owens that walked away the winner from their overall feud as he was firmly established as one of WWE’s top talents following his first ever rivalry on the big stage.
Both men are in action at Battleground, live on Sky Sports Box Office at 1am on Monday.
Cena turns back the clock to take on another old enemy, Rusev, in an overly patriotic ‘flag match’.
It could be argued Kevin Owens’ match against AJ Styles for the U.S. Championship is a more intriguing prospect.
Both are highly impressive in the ring, using gutsy skills honed on the independent scene, and both know how to elicit huge reactions from the crowd.
Battleground takes place in Philadelphia, one of the rowdiest places to watch wrestling, so expect a raucous atmosphere when the pair get into the ring.
